OCULAR DRUGS INFLUENCE ON THE STRUCTURE OF HUMAN CORNEAL TISSUE

ABSTRACT

Drug delivery through eye cornea and sclera is prevailing method for transport of drugs to affected area of human eye at the treatment of various diseases. This caused by quite permeability of cornea and sclera to substances with different molecular weights. However, application of this method can be accompanied by diffusion of the drugs into surrounding tissues as well as their adsorption in conjunctiva. Thus, the study of mechanisms of penetration of the drugs through eye cornea is more perspective trend of scientific activity deal with successful treatment of eye diseases. Furthermore, interaction of the drugs with the tissues modifies structural elements of the eye tissues, and as a result changes of permeability coefficients of the superficial eye tissues.
Goal of the study is in vivo investigation of influence of ocular drugs on the structure of human corneal tissue
