Nowadays many types of artificial sweetener are developed, and the cost of the most of them is lower than the cost of a natural sugar. So a lot of fabricators use it in the process of natural juices and other drinks manufacturing. But in case the fabricator dissembles the fact of artificial sweetener’s using, it is a falsification because artificial sweeteners are not full-scale alternative of natural sugar and they have many contraindications. Therefore the problem of reveal of such falsification is of a big importance. New type of an optical sensor, based on photonic crystal waveguide, could be the effective salvation of the problem. Since photonic crystal waveguides have high sensitivity to the optical properties of the liquids, filling up the hollow core of PCW, it can be used for fast detection of artificial sweetener appearance in drinks.
