In this report we present results of in vivo study of kinetics of changes of human skin optical properties under action of optical clearing agents (OCAs). The measurements were performed using optical coherence tomography (OCT) on inner side of forearm of 20 volunteers (40 experiments) with age 19-21 years. As OCAs aqueous 40%-glucose solution; solution of fructose (50%), water (20%), and alcohol (30%); aqueous 60%-glycerol solution; solution of glycerol (50%), water (40%), and DMSO (10%); and Omnipak® (300 mg iodine/ml). OCT scans of the investigated area were recorded before OCA application, and every 5 min after OCA application during 50 min. Calculation of attenuation coefficients of epidermis and dermis was performed separately using a specially developed computer program. Efficacy of the OCAs was compared.
