ABSTRACT

An overview of some topical problems and achievements in the field of laser spectroscopy is presented, including:
- attosecond pulses, their generation, detection and aplication;
- specific features or Rydberg atomic states, formation of localized packages of Rydberg states moving around the nucleus along Bohr orbits;
- photon counting without photon killing.
- frequency combs and portable atomic clocks
